Description:

Nine black shell hexagons on a white shell belt. Diamonds are spaced between the black hexagons. Ends have a half hexagon with a black area with two white squares and an open-center cross.\

Purchased by Arthur Speyer Jr in 1973. Bought at Sotheby's Auction in 1969, ex Trustees of the Warwick Castle Resettlemen, ex Earl of Warwick Collection, Warwick Castle.

Rick Hill of the Six Nations suggest this belt may have originated with Joseph Brant, either during his last
visit to England, or afterward, in return for the favor of the then Earl of Warwick who commissioned Romney to do Brant's
portrait which is now in the National Gallery in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Belt was At Warwick Castle, Warwick, England, Later it was sold at auction by Sotheby's, London, 8 Dec 1969.
It is now in the collections of the Museum of Civilization, Canada.

Its catalog number is 73.66.221 [formerly Speyer Collection].
